Our reasoning

Nolan spends the year's largest canvas on the smallest question a war film can ask: what does a hero owe the people who followed him? The scale is never the point. It is the pressure that makes the homecoming land. Every technical element, from the immense IMAX photography to the punishing sound design, serves a story about leadership, failure, and the cost of survival. Few films this year feel as complete, and none has combined spectacle, performance, and emotional consequence with greater force.
